Energy Transfer in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
When: Saturday, November 3, 2018
In this session you will receive an overview of the energy unit that was developed in the modeling approach for a physical science or physics class to teach energy. Following the general session, teachers will break out to learn how to incorporate these same ideas as they teach about energy transfers across living organisms, or energy transfers as a bridge into chemistry (or a deeper look at energy transfers in physics). Participants will have an opportunity to engage in hands-on labs and activities that allow students to explore, discover, and build their understanding of energy both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Please arrive about 15 minutes early to complete registration and enjoy some light refreshments.
After the event, please feel welcome to join us for lunch at a local hotspot to debrief and network with your new colleagues. Location: Heritage High School 1114 S. Fifth Street, Rogers, AR.
Presenters:
Tiffany Taylor (Heritage High School) & Marc Reif (Fayetteville School) -- General Session
Kate Lennon (Heritage High School) -- Biology session
Marc Reif (Fayetteville High School) -- Physics/Chemistry session
